A free guide for those rebuilding after the wildfires, written by families who have been through this.

What's weighing on you most right now? (check any that apply)

Here’s the guide, straight from someone who’s been where you are.

CRYSTAL'S STORY

When your home is gone, nobody hands you an instruction manual. We put together The 6-Step Rebuild Checklist, written with families who lost everything in the McDougall Creek fire and rebuilt. This is a specific list of what those families wish they'd known on day one: the exact things that protect your insurance settlement, and the steps that get your rebuild moving faster than you'd think.

Right now, this is probably what it feels like

You don't know where to start.

Insurance, permits, debris, temporary housing, and no obvious first move. That paralysis is normal, and clearing it is the first thing this guide does.

You're worried the payout won't cover a real rebuild.

It's a fair worry. Many families find their estimate is short once demolition, code upgrades, and permits are added in, and small gaps in a quote become big ones.

You don't know who to trust with something this big.

After everything you've lost, handing your rebuild to the wrong person is a risk you can't afford, and it's hard to tell a good builder from a bad one.

When the McDougall Creek fire came through, it burned down the majority of my neighbourhood. I stood where you're standing now: looking at what was left, holding a phone, not knowing who to call first.

What I learned in the months after is that rebuilding isn't only construction. It's also insurance you have to fight for, paperwork nobody warns you about, and a hundred decisions made while you're still grieving. I watched neighbours face the same thing, and I realized I could spare them the worst of what I'd learned the hard way.

That's why we're doing this now, for families who lost everything to the fires. We truly care about rebuilding the homes and lives of Okanagan communities.

Before you ask

Do I have to sign up for anything or commit to using Ryevco?

No. Read it, use it, and if you never call us, that's completely fine. It's useful on its own.

What if I already have a builder?

Then use the guide to ask them sharper questions. The insurance and adjuster sections help no matter who does your rebuild.

Prefer to talk to someone right now instead?
